Biography

Jonathan Rosenblum is thrilled and honored to be Activist in Residence at the Center for Work and Democracy, where he is focusing on building power for logistics industry workers. He comes to the Center with 42 years of labor organizing experience as a union member, organizer, campaign director, strategist, and trainer in a range of industries, including logistics, higher education, health care, transportation, and public service. Jonathan was campaign director for the first successful Fight for $15 campaign in the US, at SeaTac Airport in Washington State, and he subsequently authored a book about the historic campaign, Beyond $15: Immigrant Workers, Faith Activists, and the Revival of the Labor Movement (Beacon Press, 2017).

Jonathan has written extensively about organizing, labor struggles, racial justice, faith, and socialism, and has been an invited speaker at union, academic, and social justice events in the US, Canada, and Europe. In 2024 Jonathan was elected Recording Secretary of the National Writers Union. He is a past rank-and-file union member in the Stagehands union (IATSE) and the International Typographical Union.

Jonathan is excited to be spending time at the Center for Work and Democracy, though, as an avid hiker, he is somewhat nervous about the purported huge size of Arizona’s rattlesnakes.
