Originally from Virginia, Maria received a bachelor’s degree in International and Global Studies as well as in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2021. She also holds a master’s degree in Justice Studies from Arizona State University, where she completed her thesis entitled "Movers and Shakers: Social Movement Learning and the North Hollywood Stripper Strike."

At the Center for Work and Democracy, Maria works as a researcher and heads the communications department. Her academic interests include intersectional feminist studies, queer theory, and labor organizing.
